No, it’s not Leon “Bip” Roberts who used to play for the San Diego Padres. Rather, it’s one of England’s best officials when it comes to reffing MMA bouts. A large man who has been training in various degrees of MMA for over two decades, Roberts began as a student and then an instructor of the fighting disciplines before moving over to officiating.

He cut his teeth on the local U.K. fight scene for years before moving on to the now-defunct Cage Rage promotion. His skills were well-known all over that part of the globe, and it wasn’t long before Roberts got the call to officiate UFC 89 in England.

Rarely criticized for the job he does inside the cage, Roberts shows no signs of slowing down. He calls the fights fairly and firmly. Regardless of how big an event is, Roberts will ref his fights all the same.
