Steven Siler (23-11, 5-2 UFC) vs. Rony Mariano Bezerra (13-4, 3-1 UFC)The Matchup: After notching three victories over various cast members of “The Ultimate Fighter” series, Bezerra met cruel reality when he squared off with the experienced Jeremy Stephens at UFC Fight Night 32, as “Lil’ Heathen” knocked out the Brazilian with a head kick in 40 seconds. While it is hard not to like Bezerra’s potential, that bout was a strong reminder that there is a huge difference between an “Ultimate Fighter” also-ran and a well-traveled UFC veteran.

At 5-foot-11, Siler is four inches taller than his opponent, but “Jason” will have a three-inch reach advantage. Both men rely primarily on their hands in exchanges; Siler is buoyed by his jab and left hook and also can land quality offense from the Thai plum, while Bezerra counters effectively with his right hand and lead left hook. Bezerra probably possesses more power, and he has a knack for applying submissions on hurt opponents. However, he is not likely to try and take down Siler, so he must avoid being outpaced on the feet if he is unable to get the finish.
Siler and Bezerra are both comfortable framing submissions from their backs, but it is unclear how much of this fight will take place on the ground unless some type of scramble is initiated. Siler’s aggression can be used against him, as he often leaves himself vulnerable in pursuit of his own attacks.
The Pick: Siler has already proven himself to be a tough out even in defeat, and he will gradually wear down Bezerra to take a decision.
