Aaron Simpson vs. Mario Miranda
The Matchup: A big wrestling edge goes to Simpson here, and Miranda’s best chance is to land something significant on the feet before he gets taken down. Miranda gave a credible performance in defeat against the world-ranked Demian Maia at UFC 118, losing via decision, and has a live striking game.
However, Simpson has shown he can take a shot reasonably well and adapt in a tough fight. After losing via knockout to Chris Leben, against whom he tired after opening strong at “The Ultimate Fighter 11” Finale, he showed resilience and stamina in a three-round battle with Mark Munoz at UFC 123.
The Pick: Simpson will simply be too explosive with takedowns and positional control. He should be able to steer clear of trouble on the feet, and he will need to since Miranda can bang. Simpson wins it via late ground-and-pound stoppage.
