Fisher will be edged by Uno.
Spencer Fisher vs. Caol Uno

The Breakdown: An old-school legend meets a new school favorite as Japanese pioneer Caol Uno takes on American knockout artist Spencer Fisher. Finding that knockout may prove elusive against Uno, who despite having a somewhat suspect chin has years worth of savvy and an excess of skill on the mats to fall back on. While Fisher certainly has the striking ability to put anyone down and out like a marathon of “Two and a Half Men”, his wrestling has long been the weakness that opponents have readily capitalized on. Unlike many grapplers, Uno’s wrestling has always been a key part of his game and it may be all he needs to announce his presence in a division currently dominated by contenders a full decade younger than him.

The X Factor: When Uno fights with his head on straight, he’s one of the toughest fighters in the division to beat but, we’ve seen him get too caught up in his desire to have exciting matches and pay for it dearly. The image of Uno getting his cranium caved in by Joachim Hansen in the closing moments of a bout Uno appeared to be winning stands as the ultimate testament to his self destructive tendencies. Considering Fisher’s credentials as a bomber par excellence and frenetic fighting style, he may be just the guy to draw Uno into a losing battle.

The Bottom Line: It’s hard not to like Spencer Fisher, the guy wears his heart on his sleeve and when given a willing opponent, his fights are like watching “The Matrix” on acid. However, he just doesn’t have the wrestling to beat guys like Uno who thrive on the mats and have the tenacity to force the issue. It won’t be easy for the Japanese standard bearer as Fisher excels at creating scrambles and getting out of hairy situations but, that will only get Fisher the short end of a unanimous decision.
