• The UFC announced it was releasing additional tickets for UFC 124 on Dec. 11 in Montreal. The show, which did not do the automatic sellout UFC events have done in the past, looks to have gained steam as the promotion has rolled out for the Georges St. Pierre-Josh Koscheck main event. More tickets in the $100 and $75 range were released for the event at the Bell Centre, where the UFC did its record attendance at UFC 97 in April 2009.

Randy Couture, who has been non-committal about his future in MMA, appears to be booked through the first half of next year shooting movies. Couture revealed in a recent radio interview that he is shooting a part in a Bruce Willis film called “Setup” and plans to reprise his role in the sequel to the summer action hit “The Expendables” when it begins filming in March.

• Brazilian MMA promotion Jungle Fight, which airs shows on ESPN Deportes, has reached a deal with Coca-Cola to have its events sponsored by the giant’s Gladiator energy drink. The drink was introduced in 2008 and originally geared toward the Mexican market, with Mexican professional wrestlers as endorsers.

• Japanese promotion Zst crowned its first flyweight champion on Nov. 23, as Ryosuke Tanuma toppled Yuichiro Yajima via first-round TKO in less than two minutes to take the crown. Japanese leagues Zst, Shooto and Pancrase now have champions in the flyweight division, perhaps the last class in which Japan hosts the top fighters. The event in Tokyo commemorated the eighth anniversary of the promotion.

• Top 125-pound female fighter Tara LaRosa continued a recovery from her first loss in nearly seven years in May by defeating Strikeforce veteran Takayo Hashi at DaMMAge Fight League’s inaugural event on Nov. 24 in Atlantic City, N.J. LaRosa controlled all five rounds in taking the DaMMAge championship.
