The Better Striker: Southworth. Bobby is a Golden Gloves champion and three wins via strikes on his record. Hoger knocked someone out with a kick two years ago (I’d like to see the footage of that one), but he prefers to take it to the ground.

The Better Grappler: Hoger. With four wins by choke (using triangle, rear naked and side), he must have a ground game.

And The Winner Is: Southworth. This is a great fight because these two do not like each other. Sam mentioned it on camera at every given opportunity. As of the time this preview is written, Sam has rarely been shown doing anything but riding a stationary bike and defending his actions on camera. We know he’s been training but if nothing has been “camera worthy,” one can’t put a lot of faith in his abilities here. And regardless of what UFC President Dana White said during the show, no fighter in the whole show has fought in an event on the level of PRIDE other than Bobby. Southworth will look to shut Sam up with strikes early.
