Not even Nelson’s granite chin could withstand the thunderous power of “The Super Samoan,” as Hunt vanquished “Big Country” in the second round of their main event at the Saitama Super Arena. Knocked out for just the second time in his career, Nelson bowed out 3:00 into Round 2. Hunt punched in combination, fired off a few low kicks and shrugged off an attempted single-leg takedown from the former International Fight League champion in a tightly contested first round. Nelson executed a takedown in the second and advanced to the back, only to see the New Zealander scramble to his feet. From there, the Las Vegas native started dipping into the line of fire, Hunt cutting loose with right uppercuts in response. After he shut down another bid for a takedown, Hunt backed “The Ultimate Fighter 10” winner to the fence, flicked out a few jabs and uncorked a crushing right uppercut. Nelson crashed beard first to the canvas, leaving referee Leon Roberts to clean up what was left.
