6. Patrick Smith vs. Scott Morris
UFC 2 was the only 16-man tournament in the promotion’s history, and it was a solid field, featuring returning champion Royce Gracie, along with Jason DeLucia, Remco Pardoel and Smith, a champion kickboxer. Smith and his second-round opponent, Morris, both made it through their initial matchups with submissions that required less than a minute and were fresh for their meeting.
Morris bodied Smith up against the cage early and attempted a takedown. Smith landed in mount and immediately began raining down strikes. He threw punches first and then switched to 12-6 elbows; when more punches forced Morris to let go of his makeshift body lock, Smith slammed home three of the hardest, cleanest right elbows in the sport’s history directly to Morris’ left eye. Morris went limp, and the fight was over.
