6. No ACL, No Problem

If ever there was a fighter who can call out his contemporaries for pulling out of fights, it is Conor McGregor. He unleashed a maelstrom of insults directed at Jose Aldo and Rafael dos Anjos when they withdrew from title bouts against him because of injuries. McGregor has always maintained that he would fight under any circumstances.

When McGregor faced Max Holloway at UFC Fight Night “Shogun vs. Sonnen” in August 2013, he did so with a clean bill of health. However, at some point during their match, the Irishman tore his ACL. Yet, he continued to fight on. McGregor took a three-round decision from Holloway and then underwent reconstructive knee surgery that kept him out of the cage for almost a year. Love him or hate him, no one can question the man’s intestinal fortitude.
