The Better Striker: Bennett. He will gladly stand and trade with anyone. Mishima primarily uses his striking to set up his ground game.
The Better Grappler: Mishima. He’s been going the distance against some of the better grapplers but his ground game is certainly superior here.
Motivating Factors/Intangibles:
Mishima hopes to get in the tournament and show why he is the DEEP middleweight champion. His submission ability is solid and he’d won three in a row before losing his tournament spot to Edwards.
Bennett says he wants another shot at Gomi. Well, Gomi is the top dog in the event and the only way to meet him is to get into the tournament. After losing four of five, “Crazy Horse” has gone 3-0-2, mostly in the KOTC.
And The Winner Is: Mishima. This is a bad match-up for Bennett. Five of Bennett’s losses are by submission and he holds just one sub victory. If Mishima takes it to the mat it will only be a matter of time. However if the tournament plays out like most PRIDE tourneys, the reserve fighter never gets in the main draw. Mishima by submission in the first round.
