Jorge Patino vs. Kazuo Misaki
One of the best fights of the night was a battle of the iron chins as Jorge “Macaco” Patino fought Pancrase fighter Kazuo Misaki. Macaco has been training lately with Chute Boxe, which became apparent as the fight progressed.
His style tonight showcased a lot more standup, as he attempted to
mimic the style of one of his notorious Chute Boxe teammates. Kazuo
would have none of it though, as he absorbed a few hard shots by
Macaco that didn’t even faze him.
The bout started off with both fighters expelling nervous energy, while Misaki was the calmer of the two. This continued to be the trend throughout the fight, as Misaki was calm even while absorbing numerous hard punched from Patino. Misaki stifled a few of Macaco’s takedown attempts, even throwing Jorge off his back when “The Monkey” showed how he got his nickname.
After missing a wide right hook, Macaco got blasted right on the chin by a Misaki straight right, dropping him to one knee and stunning him momentarily. After more heated exchanges, with Misaki slightly getting the better of most, Macaco ended up in a guillotine choke. With Misaki tightening his choke, the bell sounded the end of round 1.
The second started with Misaki once again dropping Macaco with that straight right. Misaki then continually beat his grounded opponent, landing numerous punches and a devastating kick to the face. When the fight ended, it was pretty clear who had won. The judges rightfully awarded Kazuo the unanimous decision win after two hard rounds of action.
