An MMA Thanksgiving: 2015 All-Turkey Team

GREG SAVAGE: There has been a ton of talk about Ronda Rousey and her humiliating fall from her perch atop the sport, but her secured a roster spot on the All-Turkey Team. Tarverdyan more than suffered in Rousey’s humiliation at UFC 193, as he was already the butt of many a joke prior to Holly Holm schooling his number one pupil.

Why might you ask? Well, we can start with the fact that just about everyone not named Rousey who moseys through the doors at Tarverdyan’s Glendale Fighting Club has had a pretty rough go of it. Starting with Rousey’s beau, Travis Browne, and winding through her Four Horsewomen crew -- Marina Shafir, Jessamyn Duke and Shayna Baszler -- MMA hasn’t been so kind to them of late.

While Tarverdyan wasn’t exactly viewed as a stellar trainer before Rousey’s meltdown, at least he wasn’t seen as a debt-evading scam artist. In October, the details of his Chapter 7 bankruptcy came to light, and it seems Tarverdyan hasn’t made a dime in the last two years, according to reports circling the MMA blogosphere. Despite the fact that Rousey has allegedly been making seven-figure paydays for the past couple years, he wants the court to believe he hasn’t seen a dime from his prized pupil? Sure thing, buddy.

Add in the caustic video interview where Rousey’s mother, Dr. AnnMaria DeMars, publicly flogs him, stating she thinks he is a bad person, coach and influence on her daughter, and you have the hat trick of incompetence for Tarverdyan.
