Damacio Page (No. 7 BW) vs. Demetrious Johnson
Page should have an edge in the wrestling and tie-ups, though Johnson, a man better suited for the flyweight division, is more compact. He also has a lot more experience than Johnson, who has shown improvement in splitting two decisions in his WEC appearances.
With a stacked 135-pound division, there appears to be room to spend a little time developing mid-level contenders who will be ready for the step up once the more obvious matchups have been made between Dominick Cruz, Scott Jorgensen, Urijah Faber, Miguel Torres, etc.
Page has spent much of his career fighting bigger guys -- and quality ones at that. He also lets his strikes go with the mentality of a heavyweight, there to take you out and none too worried about absorbing a few in exchanges to do it. His kicks should help him establish range and variety in his attacks, and the bet here is that Page is just a little too strong, savvy and experienced, emerging as the winner via stoppage in the second or third round.
