7. Chuck Liddell

Liddell was for a time the UFC’s top draw. The former light heavyweight champion headlined pay-per-views, graced magazine covers and appeared in commercials, and his aggressive fighting style and trademark Mohawk turned him into a mainstream star. Even non-MMA fans knew about “The Iceman,” but it was Liddell’s unique appearance and frightening knockout power, not his sharp tongue, that got everyone’s attention.

The Santa Barbara, Calif., native hated doing media interviews. If you knew him personally, he was known to talk your ear off about anything and everything, but once the recorder or camera was turned on, he was quick to put up his guard. It mattered not. People cared about his stirring knockouts against Randy Couture, Renato Sobral and Tito Ortiz, not how many soundbites he could muster.
