7. Ali Bagautinov vs. Vadim Zhlobich
Fight Nights “Battle of Desne”
Sep. 17, 2012 | Bryansk, Russia
This fight featured another nasty ear injury, although the wounded party walked away with the victory.
Bagautinov and Zhlobich did battle in Russia before the “Puncher” ever fought inside the UFC’s Octagon. The pair engaged in an even first round before Bagautinov picked up Zhlobich and looked for the slam. However, the takedown somehow managed to rupture his cauliflower ear, which was a byproduct of years of sambo training. Bagauntinov’s ear immediately ripped in half and began bleeding profusely. In the end, the damage was not a hindrance, as Bagautinov locked in a guillotine choke and forced the submission. The Dagestani fighter went on to compete again exactly two months later.
