While his aura of invincibility was shattered long ago, Emelianenko still moves the needle with hardcore fans. The onetime Pride Fighting Championships titleholder will square off against Mir in the 2018 Bellator MMA heavyweight grand prix quarterfinals at the Allstate Arena, with the winner moving on to face Chael Sonnen later this year. Emelianenko, 41, has won five of his last six fights but had his Bellator debut spoiled by a knockout loss to Matt Mitrione in June. Inactive for more than two years, Mir enters their clash on a two-fight losing streak. The 38-year-old former UFC heavyweight champion last competed in March 2016, when he was on the receiving end of one of Mark Hunt’s walk-off knockouts.
