Ranking the PFL Fighters: Featherweights
Steven Siler
8. Steven Siler
As the Season 1 runner-up, Siler hopes 2019 is the year in which he goes from consolation to grand prize. The UFC veteran entered the PFL’s inaugural campaign as an afterthought but then captured the No. 1 seed in the playoffs after finishing his two regular-season opponents. The Utah native rode the momentum throughout the playoffs, until he fell short to Lance Palmer in the final. The 32-year-old is a true veteran of the sport, with over 50 professional bouts under his belt. Siler is not a great athlete, but he makes up for it with grit, craftiness, toughness and an incredible heart. The Factory X representative loves to draw his adversary into a brawl, at which point he is willing to eat a punch to land a hook or uppercut of his own. Siler’s lack of defense is a major problem, as he keeps his chin high and moves his head straight back on the centerline. Though he has been rocked several times, he does have deceiving power and can lay out opponents with a counterstrike if they misjudge him when hurt. Siler’s wrestling defense is extremely poor, but he makes up for it with a tremendous ground game. He has 17 wins by way of submission.
