Featherweights
NR | Pat Sabatini (16-3, 3-0 UFC) vs. NR | T.J. Laramie (12-4, 0-1 UFC)One of the consensus top prospects in Canada upon his 2020 UFC debut, Laramie at least figured to have a high floor in the featherweight division, owing to his consistency and well-roundedness with a strong wrestling base. However, things went about as poorly as possible for “The Truth” against Darrick Minner, as he immediately fell victim to the veteran’s aggressive submission game and lost in just 52 seconds. After missing all of 2021 due to injury, Laramie gets a tough assignment in his attempt to rebound, drawing the surging Sabatini. After a few years of success on the tough northeast regional scene, Pennsylvania’s Sabatini hit the ground running upon getting the UFC call about a year ago, winning all three of his fights in 2021. Sabatini’s range striking game is not the most well-connected to his wrestling, but he has power on the feet and, more importantly, has been able to get the better of everyone he has gone to the mat with, handling some solid fighters in Tristan Connelly, Jamall Emmers and Tucker Lutz. Remember, he heel hooked Emmers in the first round. Laramie should at least have a better outing than last time, but this looks like another fight where Sabatini can clearly win a grind. The pick is Sabatini via decision.
