Logan Storley (9-0) is a welterweight combatant signed to Bellator MMA. In his next outing, the unbeaten 26 year-old will look to keep his unblemished record intact when he faces Ion Pascu at Bellator 215, which takes place Feb. 15 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.

As we approach fight day, here are five things that you might not know about the South Dakota native known as “Storm.”

He comes from the same town as Brock Lesnar.

Storley hails from Webster, South Dakota. Despite the town having a population of fewer than 2,000 people, it’s also where current WWE star and former UFC heavyweight champion Lesnar is from. “Storm” attended the same high school and same college as Lesnar, the University of Minnesota. During his mid-teens, he spent time training in wrestling with the WWE behemoth. He says that his stint learning from the former NCAA Champion set him in good stead for his future mixed martial arts career. “I got to see a lot of things as a kid spending time with Brock,” said Storley. “It probably helped push me here.”

He has a penchant for TKOs.

Storley has had an impressive 9-0 start to his MMA career. Seven (78 percent) of those victories have come by way of TKO. “Storm” won the first six fights of his career by this method, five of which were delivered in the first round.

He was an outstanding wrestler.

Storley had a highly successful high school wrestling career. His accolades included winning the 2009 Fargo Freestyle National Championship, the 2010 NHSCA Junior National Championship, and being voted the Disney Duals MVP. After graduating, “Storm” attended wrestling powerhouse, the University of Minnesota. His four-year collegiate career saw him become a four-time All American, the recipient of the team’s “Most Exciting Wrestler” accolade twice, and the “Most Courageous Wrestler” once. In his senior year, Storley did not lose a match to any wrestler not ranked in the top 10 nationally. His overall college career record was 119-27.

He leads an active lifestyle.

Like many of his rural South Dakota contemporaries, Storley is an active person who has always enjoyed sports and the outdoors. In his schooldays, the wrestling prodigy was also a keen football player. Today, the 26-year-old MMA prospect continues to indulge in a number of energetic pursuits, most notably snowmobiling and wakeboarding.

He faces grueling weight cuts.

“Storm” spent his collegiate wrestling days competing at 174, three pounds above the non-title fight welterweight limit of 171 that he currently competes at. This is a sizable weight cut for the stocky 5’ 9’’ pugilist, who has stated that he generally walks around at about 192. Although now 26 and cutting down to a lesser weight than during his college wrestling career, there have been no issues to date. Storley previously stated in an interview that as he only has to make weight a few times a year, and due to the weigh-ins happening the day prior to the fight, that making weight is not a problem. The unbeaten prospect has been aggressive in his bouts, and his powerful takedown-heavy game has proven too much for his overwhelmed opponents.
