Sean McCorkle vs. Christian Morecraft
Both looked strong in the opening moments of their respective losses to Stefan Struve, only to be knocked out. McCorkle will have to deal with Morecraft’s aggression on the feet, but he might have an edge on the ground. The first-time adrenaline dump of trying to finish Struve in the first round might have cursed both men, as each seemed tired after a strong start.
If McCorkle can avoid Morecraft’s aggressive strikes and secure a clinch or a takedown, he will be able to dictate the fight. Look for some exciting action early as Morecraft opens up. McCorkle was confident enough in his guard to pull it against dangerous striker Mark Hunt at UFC 119, and he may need to do the same here. McCorkle and Morecraft badly need wins to avoid getting cut, so that may trigger a cautious approach.
The Pick: Whoever dares to be great, wins this fight. “Big Sexy” takes it by second-round knockout from strikes on the ground.
