• Former World Wrestling Entertainment star Bobby Lashley will have a chance to showcase his skills on pay-per-view in only his second pro fight against one of the biggest draws in the sport's history. Ken Shamrock, himself a former WWE star, has signed to face Lashley on a March 21 pay-per-view being promoted by the boxer Roy Jones Jr. from Pensacola, Fla. The card will feature several other MMA fights, as well as a Jones boxing bout in the main event. EliteXC spoiler Seth Petruzelli was set to fight Doug Marshall on the show, but pulled out due to injury. No replacement has been announced yet.

Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos will face former SmackGirl champion and submission ace Hitomi Akano on the April 11 Strikeforce card on Showtime from San Jose, Calif. Strikeforce has yet to finalize a deal to bring in female superstar Gina Carano; Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker has stated he wanted to put that fight together sooner rather than later.

Josh Koscheck will in fact return to action just three months after his knockout loss to Paulo Thiago, as he is set to Chris Wilson at UFC 98 on May 23 in Las Vegas, according to a report from MMAMania.com.

• Surging heavyweight Alistair Overeem's next step will be in the K-1 realm, as the Dutch striker is set to face 2008 Grand Prix champion Remy Bonjansky on March 28 in Yokohama, Japan. The show includes opening fights in a heavyweight tournament and will air on HDNet. Overeem knocked out K-1 bad boy Badr Hari in a New Year's Eve shocker, and there was talk the two would rematch under MMA rules. The fight seems to put a damper on the chance of Overeem defending his Strikeforce heavyweight belt the promotion's upcoming April or May cards on Showtime.

• Top-10 featherweight Rafael Assuncao is set to make his WEC debut on April 1 against Jameel Massouh, according to MMAJunkie.com. Assuncao's sole pro loss was to WEC fighter Jeff Curran.
