Hughes/Gracie in Abu Dhabi
UFC President Dana White revealed during UFC 107 media activities that the company is planning to run its first show in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on April 10. Matt Hughes, who had told fans on his Web site he was planning on returning to the UFC on that date, wrote that he has agreed to face Renzo Gracie in the card’s main event.
Neither fighter is a stranger to the moneyed old capital, which has been called the richest city in the world. Both Hughes and Gracie competed several times in the prestigious Abu Dhabi Combat Club World Submission Wrestling championships, the first two of which took place in Abu Dhabi. Gracie has coached Abu Dhabi’s crown prince, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in jiu-jitsu.
