UFC’s March Fills Up

The UFC filled up its calendar for March quickly and could be looking at staging an event every week of the month.

It begins with the promotion’s third broadcast on the Versus network, set for Thursday, March 3. The venue has yet to be determined. Diego Sanchez vs. Martin Kampmann is reportedly penciled in as the main event.

A March 19 date has been locked down for either UFC 128 or UFC 129. The promotion was still looking to nail down a date for its return to the United Arab Emirates, originally announced as taking place in March. UFC President Dana White said the promotion is still working on the card because the UFC’s Middle Eastern partners want another event there, but it cannot be held in the oppressively hot summer.

Finally, a live UFC Fight Night event is set for March 26 on Spike TV in a venue to be announced. The Saturday card will be followed by the premiere of Season 13 of “The Ultimate Fighter” on March 30 on Spike TV.

One event the UFC will not be doing in March is a card in conjunction with the annual Arnold Fitness Expo in Ohio. The UFC or WEC have run events the week of the expo since 2007. Instead, Strikeforce will run an event on March 5 at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, the state’s athletic commissioner told MMAJunkie.com.
