Nah-Shon Burrell (8-1, 3-0 SF) vs. Christopher Spang (4-1, 2-0 SF)
The Matchup: Just 22 years old, Burrell enters the matchup riding a six-fight winning streak, including three victories under the Strikeforce banner. The Fight Firm product still has plenty to work on, as was evident in his controversial split decision triumph over James Terry in January. A talented striker, Burrell struggled to find a consistent rhythm against Terry, who did a good job of making him uncomfortable with constant pressure. Burrell mounted very little threat on the ground, and it was not until the final frame that the Philadelphia native was able to showcase his standup skills.

Burrell, meanwhile, has solid hand speed and uses his jab to set up the rest of his offense, which includes uppercuts, elbows, knees, leg kicks and body punches. Not worrying about the threat of a takedown will allow Burrell to be more aggressive. Spang has a tendency to leave his lead leg exposed, which would give Burrell the opportunity to slow his movement with a steady diet of low kicks.
The Pick: This is all about who can find a comfort zone on the feet. If Burrell can navigate Spang’s reach advantage, he can dictate the tempo. Look for some spirited exchanges, with Burrell gradually imposing his will, perhaps even landing a surprise takedown or two, before emerging with the decision.
