UFC 132 “Cruz vs. Faber 2”
July 2, 2011 | Las Vegas
There was a time, many years ago, when Tito Ortiz was considered virtually unbeatable. He was tearing apart everybody he faced in brutal fashion while he defended his UFC light heavyweight title time after time. But the great Tito eventually started losing and underwent what seemed like a hundred surgeries, and by the time he faced Ryan Bader, the veteran looked like cannon fodder.
It looked as though Bader was being prepped by the UFC to fight for the title that Ortiz once held Almost nobody expected Ortiz, who was 0-4-1 in his previous five bouts, to be competitive, let alone win. But when the former champion and the contender locked horns at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” quickly rocked the Phoenix fighter with punches, grabbed hold of his neck and dropped down for a textbook guillotine choke. It was too tight, forcing Bader to tap and in the process throwing a massive monkey wrench into the 205-pound picture at the time.
