Shooto “1/29 in Korakuen Hall”
Jan. 29, 2005 | Tokyo
Remember Aoki celebrating at the expense of Mizuto Hirota on New Year’s Eve in 2009? Well, this fight saw “Tobikan Judan” show some remorse for the damage he caused to Wisniewski’s elbow.
For most of the fight, Aoki pressured his opponent, continually closing the distance and looking for a takedown. At the two-minute mark, Wisniewski made the mistake of loosely over hooking Aoki’s arm and allowing the Japanese submission ace to control it at the wrist. What this did was place Wisniewski’s elbow on Aoki’s ribs, giving him the timing to twist his body and snap the arm at the elbow.
What is so shocking about this fight is the audible crack of the arm one can hear in the video. Much like that of a cocked shotgun, the sound of a bone breaking is hard to forget.
