Preview: UFC Fight Night 195 Prelims

Klein vs. Landwehr

Featherweights

NR | Ludovit Klein (17-3, 1-1 UFC) vs. NR | Nate Landwehr (14-4, 1-2 UFC)

ODDS: Klein (-300), Landwehr (+250)

Klein’s sophomore effort in the UFC did not go nearly as well as his debut, but the first Slovakian to step foot inside of the Octagon is still a prospect worth watching. Klein came to the UFC as an impressive knockout artist and lived up to that billing against Shane Young in 2020, scoring a vicious knockout in a shade over a minute that included his signature head kick. It was a performance marred only by Klein’s failure to make weight and led to some anticipation heading into his next bout against Michael Trizano. Klein got in some shots against Trizano but was mostly forced to move backwards and never got the knockout blow for which he was searching; and while most felt Klein still did enough to take the decision, it was a close enough bout that the scorecards went to Trizano. Klein gets a more forgiving matchup against Landwehr, who has struggled to bring the excitement for which he was known on the regional scene, at least in a positive manner. Tennessee’s Landwehr took a circuitous route to the UFC, making a name for himself in Russia. On a wrestling-heavy scene, “The Train” found success simply by outlasting his opponents and taking over his fights late. In three UFC appearances, Landwehr was able to gut out a brawl against Darren Elkins for a victory but otherwise just has not been able to get out of the gates. Herbert Burns and Julian Erosa managed to quickly catch Landwehr cold and score quick knockouts. This looks likely to be that same sort of fight, as Klein brings plenty of danger and should be able to clip Landwehr in short order. Even though Klein’s best weapon is that head kick, he has also shown the ability to crack opponents in close quarters, much in the same manner that Landwehr has been caught before. The pick is Klein via first-round knockout.
