K-1 Hawaii Preview: Penn Versus Gracie
Prediction
Jul 28, 2005
MY PICK: Penn.
Renzo has been on a slide, losing five of six since 1999. He has had his share of injuries and training mishaps and it has been nearly two years since the 38-year-old Gracie last entered the ring. A lot can change in that time and improvements to one’s overall game can be made but inactivity, regardless of age or ability does not help keep your fight game sharp.
I think Penn is getting a shot at Renzo at the right time. Gracie does better against fighters his size so it is unlikely he’ll get smoked early, but Penn is at the top of his game and it is a tall task for anyone. I feel it will be Penn by decision. If Penn comes out on top, Ryan Gracie (Pics, Vids) would make a logical next opponent.
