Doggy Bag: Chasing Jose Aldo

Ranking the Best

Stephen Albanese/Tailstar.com

Which upcoming UFC title fight are you looking forward to the most? I personally feel that Georges St. Pierre vs. Dan Hardy is the best of the bunch by a long shot. What about you?

TJ De Santis, Beatdown radio host: Matthew, I’m not going to disagree with you. On paper I think this is an easy fight for GSP. However, Dan Hardy cannot be discounted that easily. Hardy's hands could prove to be a problem for St. Pierre if he stands at all with the Brit. As we all know fights start on their feet, so Hardy is guaranteed at least one shot at knocking out the champion.

With that said, St. Pierre is the best in the world at 170 pounds and makes a strong argument for top pound-for-pound status. Nix the Serra loss from UFC 69 and you are looking at the best fighter in the world, and perhaps the best welterweight of all time. GSP will dominate Hardy when the matchup goes to the floor, but the hype train will cement this as a legit title fight in fans’ eyes.

As for my most anticipated title bout, Frank Mir vs. Shane Carwin is an incredibly exciting fight. Even though it is for an interim belt, the evolution of Mir is compelling to say the least.

We also have a lot to learn about Carwin, should he be pushed into the later rounds.

With both of these title fights on the same card, I think the fans at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., are in for a real treat.

St. Pierre-Hardy will be the main event, but don't be surprised if the heavyweights steal the show.
