WEC 46 Preview
Brown vs. Morrison

Mike Thomas
Brown vs. Anthony
Morrison
The Breakdown: Squash match comes to mind when you imagine Morrison, a local league gatekeeper, taking on Brown, who is undoubtedly looking for something to break in half after losing the WEC featherweight strap to Jose Aldo. No knock meant on Morrison, who has developed into a solid fighter, but he doesn’t have anything to offer Brown.
After getting outclassed by Aldo at WEC 44, it’s easy to forget that Brown is one of the heaviest punchers in the game and has a top game that seamlessly combines crippling ground-and-pound with surprisingly erudite jiu-jitsu. There really isn’t much to say on Morrison’s behalf except for, perhaps, good luck.
The X-Factor: The “Matt Serra Factor” is always present in a sport where a moment’s carelessness can radically alter a landscape that only appears to be set in stone. It appears everyone regards this as a rebuilding fight for Brown, but if he’s looking at it that way, then the foundation is already set for what would be a monumental upset.
The Bottom Line: Probability is a perpetual pain in the prognostication realm. With that said, it won’t be long before an overhand right lays out Morrison midway through the first round of a lopsided fight.
