Shamrock positive for steroids
Two weeks before he was set to clash with Bobby Lashley on pay-per-view, it was announced that UFC Hall of Famer Ken Shamrock flunked a steroids test that was administered following his fight with Ross Clifton on Feb. 13 in Fresno, Calif. Shamrock tested positive for Stanozolol, as well as two Nandrolone-based substances. Shamrock has been suspended for a year, though his attorney and manager, Rod Donohoo, told Sherdog.com he will be looking for a speedy appeal. Donohoo said that he was investigating if the positive test was caused by over-the-counter supplement products.
Shamrock had generated buzz when he was announced as facing Lashley, another former WWE pro wrestling headliner, on a hybrid pay-per-view on March 21 promoted by Roy Jones Jr., who will box in the main event. Lashley was offered former heavyweight boxing champion Hasim Rahman and UFC and Pride veteran Don Frye as potential replacement opponents on the show, according to WrestlingObserver.com. At press time, reports surfaced that Lashley will instead face UFC lightweight Clay Guida’s older brother, Jason, a short-lived alumnus of “The Ultimate Fighter 8” before he was expelled for failing to make weight before his first bout. A career light heavyweight, Guida sports a 17-19 record.
