The fight headlined Impact FC “The Uprising,” which aired in the United States on pay-per-view and included pre-recorded fights from the previous weekend’s event in Brisbane, which was headlined by Josh Barnett vs. Geronimo dos Santos. Promoter Tom Huggins told Sherdog.com that he is planning to hold two more events in September in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
“The Uprising” also saw Paul Daley stop Daniel Acacio with an elbow in round three in the Brit’s first bout since being booted from the UFC and Paulo Filho and Denis Kang fight to a draw. In a grappling-heavy affair, Kang held most of the top position in the first, Filho in the second. The third was close, prompting one 10-10 scorecard on top of a 30-27 card for Kang and a 29-28 card for Filho. Filho had great difficulty making the 185-pound limit. A rematch is in the works.
Also picking up wins July 17 were Murilo "Ninja" Rua (first-round guillotine submission over Jeremy May); Jesse Taylor (second-round TKO via verbal tap over Murilo Bustamante); Soa Palelei (first-round kimura submission over Brad Morris); Peter Graham (first-round rear-naked choke submission over Jim York); and Glover Teixeira (first-round TKO over Marko Peseli).
