The Doggy Bag: Silva's Dilemma

Radio Matters

Radio matters

Guys I have to admit, the Savage Dog Show isn't my quite my cup of tea when it comes to MMA radio, but I have a feeling that the SDS would have the best stories to tell of stuff that went wrong on the air or fights during the show that weren't picked up on by the listeners.

I remember a while ago that the show was restarted after 15 minutes or so after "technical problems" caused listeners to miss a huge fight on air between TJ, Greg and Jeff.

Got any stories to share, guys?
-- Gavin in Quebec

Greg Savage, radio host: Well Gavin, Jeff and I are good friends and we would never actually get into any kind of fight or disagreement ... as far as you know anyway. All kidding aside, yes there was a time when we had some "technical difficulties" and it had to do with Jeff being a big jerk.

Of course I was in a bad mood that day and dropped a "see you next Tuesday" on him and TJ. Luckily for me, we were not live that day due to some real technical problems. TJ finally got his Fisher Price radio studio back up and running and we just took it from the top again like nothing ever happened.

As for fights that listeners might not have picked up on, I can't think of anything off the top of my head. We generally tell each other what is on our minds no matter what. It is a perk those 20 years of friendship allows us. It may not always be pretty, but there is nothing hidden below the surface of the SDS.

Now if we can just get TJ so keep his trap shut all will be well.

About The V Foundation.
Jimmy V Fund

TJ, I’m a huge fan of Sherdog.com and your shows. I think it's awesome that you are doing this programming for the Jimmy V foundation. If you are looking for ideas, a radio station in Boston, WEEI does something similar with the Jimmy Fund every August. If you are in need of any ideas or anything else drop me a line and I'll do what I can.

Thanks and let's triangle choke us some cancer.
-- Mike

TJ De Santis, radio host: Thanks for your support and email. Our cancer broadcast is approaching so quickly. I’m amazed with the response from listeners, and our staff as a whole. The biggest issue I foresaw was filling content. After Lotfi put out the first email gathering staff interest, the problem switched from lack of content to figuring out how I was going to stay awake for my 12-hour board operating shift.

This is going to be a great night for cancer research and The Sherdog Radio Network. We have a lot of cool things planned. I really hope this goes smooth so we can not only raise awareness for cancer research, but make this an annual thing.

Get your favorite flavor of energy drink ready as it’s going to be a long, but rewarding night!
