Guida has pieced together a strong resume that has seen him spend four hours, 45 minutes and 51 seconds competing under the Ultimate Fighting Championship banner.
A six-time “Fight of the Night” and three-time “Submission of the Night” winner, Guida has been a mainstay in the featherweight and lightweight divisions for more than a decade and boasts victories over Nate Diaz, Rafael dos Anjos, Takanori Gomi, Anthony Pettis, Hatsu Hioki and Tatsuya Kawajiri. The former Strikeforce champion and Team Alpha Male rep fell short in epic encounters with Diego Sanchez and Roger Huerta but saw his popularity grow in defeat. Guida’s 61 takedowns landed tie him with Johny Hendricks for fifth on the UFC’s all-time list according to FightMetric figures, as he trails only Georges St. Pierre, Gleison Tibau, Frankie Edgar and Demetrious Johnson.
The 35-year-old Round Lake, Illinois, native has not fought since being cut down by a Brian Ortega knee strike at UFC 199 on June 4, the loss dropping his record inside the Octagon to 12-11.
