M-1 Fighters
Athletes from all over the world have competed including Gilbert Yvel, Alistair Overeem, Valentijn Overeem, Paul Cahoon, Faith Kocamis and Chalid Arrab from Team Golden Glory and Pride veterans Bob Schrijber and Rodney Faverus from Holland.
Fighters Luiz “Buscape” Firmino, Milton Vieira, Tulio Palhares, “The Pedro” Otavio from Brazil have competed as well as American’s Darryl Gholar, Dave Strasser, Ben Rothwell, Curtis Stout, Todd Medina, Mark Smith, Keith Wisniewski, Chris Albandia, Denis Kang and Larry Parker.
Even UFC veteran Ian Freeman
from England made the trip to Russia. A number of homegrown
fighters have also made their presence known through these events
including Andre Semenov, Amar Suloev, Sergei Bytchkov and Martin
Malkhasyan.
The Russians Invading
As for the current crop of Red Devils featured in the “Russian Invasion” show, they have a wealth of experience among them and have the same aspirations of making an international name for themselves here in the U.S. Although the team is nearly 40 members strong, just 10 have made the trip to America to battle in Atlantic City.
Sergei Bal has the least experience of the group with just one fight; a draw in “Russia vs. the World 7” show.
Denis Komkin (2-1), Sergei Golyaev (4-2), Mikhail Bogdanov (3-1) all appear to have minimal experience with most of their bouts taking place in the M-1. I say “appear” because you can never be absolutely sure about a fighter’s record especially if his background cannot easily be verified.
Musail Allaudinov (6-3), Sergey Kaznovsky (7-5), Arman Gambaryan (8-2-1), Alexei Veselovzorov (9-3-1) and M-1 Heavyweight Champion Roman Zentsov (9-6) would follow. Some of these fighters have branched out further than their homeland, competing in Holland in Too Hot To Handle (2H2H), It’s Showtime and the Millennium Sports events.
That leaves the co-headliner Andrey Semenov, with a 21-4-2 record and bouts in the UFC, the World Vale Tudo Championships, Too Hot To Handle far and away the most experienced Red Devil competing in this event.
