Dan Miller vs. Joe Doerksen
Like his brother Jim, Dan Miller is another hard-nosed type and a tough out for anyone. A no-frills fighter, Miller is somewhere in the middle of the organization’s 185-pound division -- good enough to beat guys like Rob Kimmons, Jake Rosholt and Matt Horwich, but dropping decision losses to upper-level guys such as Chael Sonnen, Demian Maia and Michael Bisping.
Doerksen is one of the game’s veterans that old-school fans appreciate. He’s fought everyone and everywhere, and he has a subtle submission game that’s often overlooked because he isn’t the kind of guy to engage in crazy exchanges. Miller probably has the edge in both the striking and wrestling, and definitely has less mileage on him. While Doerksen is able to lock up sneaky submissions if you give him virtually any opening, his standup has always been a weak point in his game.
Look for Miller to score points on the feet and wear Doerksen down before taking it to the ground, where he’ll score a third-round knockout.
