Sherdog’s Top 10: UFC Ironmen
No. 1
1. Frankie Edgar
No fighter has spent more time plying his trade inside the Ultimate Fighting Championship than Edgar at six hours, 17 minutes, 49 seconds and counting.
“The Answer” has shined in multiple weight classes, first as an undersized lightweight and later as a featherweight. Edgar wrestled collegiately at Clarion University in Pennsylvania, where he was a four-time national qualifier, before fixing his sights on an MMA career. He arrived in the UFC in 2007, brought home the lightweight championship in 2010 and has pieced together an impeccable resume that includes 10 post-fight bonuses: seven for “Fight of the Night,” one for “Knockout of the Night” and two for “Performance of the Night.” Edgar continues to excel well into his 30s, as he has won six of his past seven bouts, a decision loss to Jose Aldo in a failed bid to capture the interim featherweight title his only misstep.
Edgar last fought at UFC 205 on Nov. 12, when the Toms River, New Jersey, native outdueled Jeremy Stephens across three rounds at Madison Square Garden in New York.
