Sherdog’s Top 10: Greatest Entrances

Patrick WymanApr 16, 2015

1. Genki Sudo

Nobody has ever done ring entrances better than Sudo, and to be honest, it is not even particularly competitive. Sudo is also a singer, dancer, actor and choreographer, and it is no surprise that his amazing entrances encapsulated the entirety of a compelling and complex human being.

Sudo’s walkouts have more in common with high-level performance art than with ring entrances as they are commonly understood in MMA. His choreographed routine for his last fight at K-1 “Premium 2006 Dynamite” was an incredible spectacle, and it almost defies description.

He was and remains a totally unique character in the history of the sport, and we are worse off for not having had him for longer. Whether or not one buys into Sudo’s philosophical musings or enjoys his music or art, he represented something that went beyond MMA, and he should always be appreciated for that.
