MMA Fighters That Could Become Crossover WWE Superstars & Their WWE Counterparts

Waterson

Michelle Waterson

As WWE continues to expand its global footprint, one of the largest markets the company wants to enter into is Asia. Waterson would represent a global appeal with an incredible level of charisma, looks, and athletic skill. The UFC has seen firsthand the level of star Waterson has become with featured positions on Fox that have commanded audiences, such as her fight with Paige VanZant in 2016. As a promo, Waterson has always been a strong interview subject. Her documentary “Fight Mom” was lauded and well received.

Now, unlike a lot of people on this list, Waterson was never a pro-wrestling fan in her youth, however, she’s certainly seen how the combat sports world has developed for her contemporaries and isn’t opposed to the idea.

“I think it would be fun,” she told Fightful.com in 2017. “I think if I were to get into pro-wrestling, I’d be able to utilize some of my more artistic martial arts that I started in the beginning with. But yeah, why not? If the door’s open, why not?”

Given that Waterson is from the U.S. and English is her first language, it’s an added benefit for a company that produces television for a U.S. audience first and the language barrier does exist for foreign performers looking to stand out on WWE’s programming. As a fighter, mother and former model, there is a great story to be told and someone that could acclimate well if her mind was set on making that move.
