2. DROPPING THE AXE
Wanderlei Silva also fought Quinton Jackson three times over the course of his career, twice in Pride Fighting Championships and once in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. While Silva laid claim to the Pride fights, “Rampage” closed the book successfully on their third chapter.
These legitimate arguments led to a highly anticipated rematch at Pride 28, where even the pre-fight staredown made for fireworks. The rematch was not nearly as one sided as their first encounter, but the ending was the same, as Silva again began unloading on Jackson with knees. However, this time around, the referee was not needed: Silva knocked Jackson unconscious and sent “Rampage” tumbling onto the ring ropes.
Unlike later in his career, Silva was dominant when both men were in their primes.
