Once the left leg connected, Vovchanchyn was instantly frozen. He hit the ground like someone had yanked the carpet out from underneath him, allowing “Cro Cop” to pounce and land a powerful right hand to the other side of his head. The referee stepped in to save the Ukrainian from further damage, Filipovic’s star burning ever brighter.
The left high kick became a “Cro Cop” trademark, and it certainly made an impression on Vovchanchyn. It was the only knockout loss of his 66-fight career.
