2. Pride Final Conflict 2003


Pride Final Conflict 2003 was a historic event on a number of fronts, and 67,451 fans poured into the Tokyo Dome to see it on Nov. 9, 2003. It saw the completion of the 2003 Pride middleweight grand prix, playing host to the semifinals and final of the star-studded tournament. Quinton Jackson stopped Chuck Liddell in the second round of one semi, while Wanderlei Silva took a unanimous decision from Hidehiko Yoshida in the other. Silva then disposed of Jackson with knee strikes in the final in what was the first of three career meetings between two all-time greats. Meanwhile, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira submitted Mirko Filipovic with an armbar to capture the interim Pride heavyweight championship, tapping the Croatian 1:45 into Round 2. Kazushi Sakuraba, Heath Herring, Dan Henderson and Gary Goodridge were also victorious at the event.
