2. Frank Mir vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira
UFC 140 “Jones vs. Machida”
Dec. 10, 2011 | Toronto

When Mir defeated Nogueira at UFC 92, many believed the outcome a fluke. However, Mir put all doubts to rest when he doubled up on the win with an emphatic finish of the Brazilian three years later.

At one point, Nogueira, having wobbled Mir with punches, latched onto a guillotine choke. Mir tried to extricate himself, but the Brazilian rolled with him. Eventually, Mir found himself in top position looking to secure a kimura. Gaining side mount and properly maneuvering for the submission, Mir began to crank his opponent’s arm towards the point of no return. Nogueira rolled in a bid to defend but Mir did not let go, placing his right leg over the Brazilian’s head and bending the former Pride champion’s arm until a visible break to the humerus bone was seen. “Minotauro’s” decision to tap out came too late.
