MacDonald will get another crack at a major mixed martial arts championship when he challenges Lima for the undisputed Bellator MMA welterweight crown. The 28-year-old MacDonald made his organizational debut at Bellator 179 in May and did so in dominating fashion, as he overwhelmed and submitted Paul Daley with a second-round rear-naked choke. The win was the Tristar Gym export’s first since he put away Tarec Saffiedine with punches in October 2014 and helped him right the ship following back-to-back losses to Robbie Lawler and Stephen Thompson. Lima enters the showdown with the wind of a three-fight winning streak in his sails. The Atlanta-based Brazilian last fought at Bellator 180 on June 24, when he outstruck Lorenz Larkin to a unanimous decision across five rounds.
