Sherdog’s Official Mixed Martial Arts Rankings

Rejuvenated

It appears that time off did Brandon Moreno some good.

Returning from a self-imposed hiatus, the former flyweight champion looked as good as ever in the UFC Edmonton main event, as he easily outdueled Amir Albazi to capture a unanimous decision triumph on Saturday night at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. In addition to snapping a two-bout skid, “Assassin Baby” re-established himself as one of the world’s top flyweight talents. While it might not be enough to earn himself another title shot just yet, Moreno is well deserving of his No. 3 ranking. Albazi, who was fighting for the first time since June 2023, suffers his first loss in six Octagon appearances while learning that there is still a significant gap between himself and the division’s elite.

Elsewhere, Erin Blanchfield shook off a slow start to pull away for a five-round verdict against Rose Namajunas in the UFC Edmonton co-main event. “Cold Blooded” bounces back from a loss to Manon Fiorot this past March and holds on to her No. 4 ranking at 125 pounds. Namajunas, who had designs on making a leap into title contention, instead falls to 2-2 at flyweight and stays put at 10th.
