Today we look at the “Hawaii versus Japan” super-fights that grace
Friday’s Rumble On The Rock card in Honolulu. Not all of them are
“super” but there are some familiar names on the fight card.
Renato Verissimo (Pictures) is back in action after his nightmare in January facing a fairly competent grappler from a versatile training camp. Then Hawaiian son Ray “Bradda” Cooper will try and bring it to another Japanese hopeful. And “Cabbage” is back. He’s always good for a beating — be it giving or taking — and he’s in there with a PRIDE veteran. It could get interesting.
The “Hawaii versus Japan” super-fights include B.J. Penn (Pictures)’s MMA grappler Renato Verissimo (Pictures) against Kuniyoshi Hironaka (Pictures) of the Academia Az. Brandon Wolff (Pictures) throws down with Shinpei Sotoyama (Pictures). Ray Cooper (Pictures) challenges Koji Yoshida. Wesley Correira (Pictures) tangles with Kazuhiro Hamanaka (Pictures) of Yoshida Dojo. And Scott Junk (Pictures) squares off against Hideki Tadao (Pictures).
