Jake Ellenberger Sees Himself Fighting 2 or 3 More Years
By: Sherdog.com Staff
Jake Ellenberger, on “Beatdown,” discussing MMA and how long he’ll be fighting:
“There’s probably not a day you go through training that you don’t ask yourself why do you do this and why do you want to do this. Because it’s not comfortable. I’ve invested a lot of time, money, everything into this. But yeah, you definitely ask yourself. It’s dangerous too. Nobody really understands it. That fear of the unknown is a big variable. There’s a very small window for the opportunity to become world champ. Realistically, we’ve got two or three years to do that. Honestly, that’s all. That’s how long I want to be in this sport, is maybe two or three more years. That’s just because it’s constantly changing, and if I do reach my goal, which I do believe I will, it will be in the next two or three years.” -

"The Bigg Rigg" Johny Hendricks has had an outstanding couple of years inside the UFC's octagon. Defeating perennial top contenders like Josh Koscheck, Jon Fitch, and his most recent knockout victory over Martin Kampmann. Yet, Hendricks' fight with welterweight champion Georges St.Pierre has been tabled for now. Instead, he will face Jake Ellenberger at UFC 158. The Team Takedown product joined TJ and Jeff to talk about his championship snubbing, his thoughts on GSP-Diaz, and why he feels the Ellenberger match is more dangerous than a fight with St. Pierre.
The other side of that same story is told as Jake Ellenberger joins "Beatdown" to state his case as why he may be next in line for "Rush." The Nebraska native talked with TJ and Jeff about the March fight, if he feels Hendricks is truly the number one contender, and what he would be doing if he weren't competing in mixed martial arts.
De Santis and Sherwood take more year end predictions, answer calls, emails and tweets, and poll the audience on who the best commentating team is mixed martial arts is.

Jake Ellenberger Believes He Has Best MMA Wrestling at 170
By: Sherdog.com Staff
Jake Ellenberger, on “Beatdown,” discussing his wrestling skills:
“I’m not at all, by any means, a great wrestler. I just know that I’m not going to give up any positions or takedowns easy at all. I just think if they get in on my legs, they’re going to have to work really, really hard. At the same time, I don’t feel there’s anybody in the division that I can’t take down either. For me it’s like I was never even that good of a wrestler in college, but I continually train it every day. … I would put my MMA wrestling up against anybody in this division. My MMA wrestling, I think, is better than anybody else’s in the division.”
