In one of the most spirited and wild battles of the year, Louis Smolka ruined Ben Nguyen’s South Dakota homecoming by stopping him in the second round at UFC Fight Night “McDonald vs. Lineker,” though it was far from easy.

The flyweights tore into each other with reckless abandon as soon as the horn started the duel. They took turns latching on and escaping submission attempts repeatedly, but it was Smolka who eventually seized control at the end of the first with a mounted ground-n-pound attack. The Hawaiian nearly subbed his foe with a rear-naked choke late in the second, but he eventually closed the show with a vicious barrage of punches and elbows, forcing Herb Dean to step in at the 4:41 mark.
