All six fighters who submitted to drug screens for UFC 127 have been cleared by the UFC following the promotion’s most recent trip to Australia.
UFC Vice President of Regulatory Affairs Marc Ratner on Wednesday told Sherdog.com that tests for both main event fighters -- B.J. Penn and Jon Fitch -- as well as four other unnamed and randomly selected combatants came back clean. All six fighters were tested for both performance-enhancing drugs and drugs of abuse, says Ratner.
UFC 127 took place Feb. 27 at Acer Arena in Sydney and was overseen by the Combat Sports Authority of New South Wales; the UFC conducted its drug testing independent of the state-run organization. The event drew a reported 18,186 spectators for a live gate of more than $3.5 million.
