The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s first card of 2014 came in the wee morning hours on the promotion’s new digital network, and while UFC Fight Night 34 didn’t arouse the interest of say, UFC 168, fight fans still found plenty to talk about.
Tops on their list was Tarec Saffiedine, who returned to action for the first time in more than a year to take a five-round verdict over Hyun Gyu Lim in Saturday’s headliner. Leg kicks carried the former Strikeforce king past Lim, who mounted a furious rally in the bout’s waning moments. Still, Saffiedine held on taking his fifth consecutive victory, and now the Belgian has his sights set on a top 10 foe.
